Briggs & Stratton Magnetos (Cast Iron Engines)

BACK TO TECHNICAL DATA PAGE

Three different magneto types were used on practically all Briggs & Stratton engines from the early 1920's to the early 1950's. This page gives an illustration of each of the three types and a list of the engine models that used them. The only exception that I am aware of is the Magnematic Ignition system with external points that was used on the Models 9, 14, and 23 engines from the late 1940's thru the 1950's. This system is not covered here. The information here is useful if you are looking for parts for a particular engine in that it gives you an idea of what other engines use the same parts.
